“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:21-24).

For me, I purpose to live each day as if it is my last. I purpose to live in God’s spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, humility and self control. I purpose to lay down my agenda and yield to God’s will and leading. I purpose to be a blessing to those I meet and be mindful of those in need around me. Yet every moment I’m given opportunities to choose how I will meet the circumstances and challenges each day brings.
Following Jesus in a life of faith does not mean I never make a mistake, never have the wrong attitude, never say or do the wrong thing, or avoid doing the right thing.
So each time I choose to get frustrated with others or grow discouraged with circumstances instead walking in the love, grace, mercy, and hope I profess, God gives me another opportunity to choose. I can choose to do the right thing after I’ve done the wrong thing. I can invite God into it, humbly acknowledge my error, and ask for His help. I can apologize to another and reconcile a relationship. I can forgive an offense. I can accept the things I cannot change and replace my discouragement with hope and press on.
I don’t think following Jesus in a life of faith means perfection, rather ongoing pursuit. Thank God for His grace and mercy to start each day anew.
